Melancholia Wins Top at 2012 National Society of Film Critics Awards

Lars von Trier’s sci-fi drama ‘Melancholia’ wins top award at 2012 National Society of Film Critics Awards Winners, as the 46th annual awards voting meeting it was held at Sardi’s Restaurant in New York City.

The National Society of Film Critics consists of Fifty-eight members from big newspapers in LA, NY, Chicago, Boston and other U.S. cities. They include Time, The New Yorker, Newsweek, The Village Voice and The Boston Phoenix among others.

“Melancholia” has marked its first major Northern America (U.S.) award by grabbing the top prize of Best Picture. Its lead actress, Kirsten Dunst, was also honor the Best Actress at the award show. As for the Best Actor, Brad Pitt grabbed the prize through his roles in both “The Tree of Life” and “Moneyball.”
