Bon Iver honored with two Grammys 2012 awards for ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Alternative Album. Bon Iver, the Wisconsin band has beaten out the likes of Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, and The Band Perry at the 54th Grammy Awards gala on CBS.
Frontman Justin Vernon thanked voters for the award, admitting that he felt very uncomfortable accepting the prize. Vernon told the viewers that it’s really hard to accept this award but well, there is so much talent out here on this Grammys stage and there’s a lot of talent that is not here tonight.
While the Grammys award for Best Alternative Album was handed out before the ceremony, the Best New Artist Grammy was notably featured in the telecast.
Bon Iver added that it’s also hard because, when he started to make songs he did it for the inherent reward of making songs… but with that discomfort, he does have a sense of gratitude. He also wants to say sorry to the other bands he played with earlier to founding Bon Iver.
Vernon went on to thank his fellow nominees – Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, and The Band Perry, in addition to the non-nominees that aren’t here and will never be here. Showing his admiration for the voters, he then told that he wants to say thank you to all the voters of course. Sweet, Sweet hookup…
Justin Vernon finished by the city of Eau Clare, Wisconsin, Jagjaguwar – his label – both for having transparency and friendship… his friends and family, and most of all his parents. Bon Iver and Alicia Keys lately revealed that they anticipate teaming up in the future for teamwork. In January, Vernon launched a new record label for lost and rare soundtracks.
