Phyllis Thaxter Dead on Florida home, But she will be alive in our life, who played Ma Kent adoptive mother in the blockbuster “Superman” made in 1978, has died on Tuesday at the age of 90 in Longwood, Florida.
Thaxter, who expired in her Florida home following a long battle with Alzheimer’s, is best known for her character playing Clark Kent’s mother in Richard Donner’s 1978 movie. The star was also recognized for her parts in ‘Bewitched’, ‘Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo’ and ‘Act of Violence’, and worked on Broadway prior in her career.

According to her daughter, actress Skye Aubrey – after a 9 year fight with Alzheimer ‘s disease with the condition. She was one of the most gorgeous and noble icons of the golden age of films, TV and theater, veteran film critic Rex Reed told the sources. She is survived by her daughter Skye Aubrey, grandchildren Devin, Jessica, Jackie, Anastasia and Sebastian, and great-grandson Elijah.
Thaxter’s final film is the Superman before she returned to the stage, starring in productions including “The Little Foxes” with Anne Baxter and “The Gin Game” with Larry Gates during the 1980s.
The late Superman actress later seemed in TV shows such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, and The Fugitive. Her most well-known character was playing Clark Kent’s adoptive mother, Martha, in 1978′s Superman differing Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel.
